The Last Heir of Valrane

First she came, the eldest of the three,

The Queen of Valrane, akin to Leto as she reign,

Soon she fell ill, leaving her brothers to take her place

And passed before it reached midday.

.

Then came the eldest of twin brothers,

Akin to Artemis, despising their other half

And became King to spite their twin,

Caring little of their people’s opinion.

.

As time went, the middle grew corrupt,

An illness on their soul from childhood,

Growing without any way to be stopped

And left them to die while they stood.

.

They knew that they would pass,

As surely as their sister had just before,

Making a sacrifice to their God;

A ritual of old, leaving them under the curse.

.

Alive but only half of what they were,

Their soul split in two, the chaos it stir.

.

As the twin of him akin to Apollo, they betray him so,

To cause the destruction of their world

To reign pain all through the overworld,

And cause the death of countless friend and foe.

.

Thrown out by their people, they akin to Artemis fled,

For their crimes, for they watched as their people bled.

And both twins knew that they had been dead since that dawn,

The curse having taken their soul, the middle child now gone.

.

In their place remains a husk of who they once were,

And their twin takes their place as the new King,

The woodlands welcome them, the Lost Kingdom a haven,

Their lover welcoming their newfound isolation.

.

The youngest, beloved by the people,

Rose as King, now the last of his name.

Opposing their twin going opposite of their reign

His people now free, him now their ruler.

.

And while the peace would be sure to not last,

They could only pray that it would not be so fast

Yet the new King of Valrane would not let it fall from grace

Him akin to Apollo, enemies will learn to heed his name.
